We are now accepting applications for the Fall 2009 semester on a rolling basis through March 1, 2009. Notification letters are sent within three weeks of receipt of your application. To apply, submit our application (below) along with a college transcript, two recommendations, and a work sample.
The work sample may take different forms, as described in our application, and
we encourage you to showcase the boldness and clarity of your artistic mind.
We don’t need a masterpiece, just something that shows you thinking and taking risks.
We are looking for student artists who demonstrate:
- A strong background in an artistic practice: theater, dance,
design, etc.
- An interest in taking risks and in process-based,
contemporary work
- The ability to collaborate and function well in a group environment
We may also schedule you for a 30-minute phone interview after we receive your application.

DATES OF PROGRAM
HPI 2009 runs from September 7-December 18, 2009. Orientation for students begins September 3. Fall Break is October 9-19, and Thanksgiving Break is November 25-30.
COST OF PROGRAM
$12,000: undergraduate tuition
$9,000: post-bac tuition
These costs include tuition materials and tickets to all required performances, but do not include cost of living.
DEPOSIT
A $1,000 non-refundable deposit must be paid within 3 weeks of receipt of the notification of acceptance to hold your spot. This deposit will be applied towards your tuition.
